Hello. It's me. That guy. That guy that does this place.

First off I should mention that, obviously, I'm not dead. Nor was I ill. Just, well, uninspired during 2023. But even though it really wasn't looking like I'd manage it I did get chapter 5 of my comic, Beyond the Sacred Mountain, in the can and off my back. It was a close one. I don't exactly know what happened but I just fell right off of things. Noticing that I was in danger of not getting anything done for 2023 I did get my shit together, somewhat, and blasted through a lot of pages in a short period of time. I'd rather not have had to do that but, you know me, I have a history of this. Speaking of having a history of doing this...

...Musically I was just about done at the end of 2022. I huffed and puffed and eventually managed to get something done by just taking a brain detour at the last minute. In 2023, and so far in 2024, I haven't been able to manage even that. I've still been working on things but little of it is new. I've been dipping into some recent ideas I've not been able to knock into shape and a bunch of really old ones that I never did anything with. But in truth I've dried up. I have little in the way of momentum and invention as far as making music goes, recently. I have zero interest in singing, even though these things I've worked on all have lyrics, so all I've really got are some loose backing tracks and I'm not over the moon about them either. As the end of 2023 drew in and with the well being so dry I wasn't sure what I should do. 2023 would be the first year since 2008 where I would have nothing musical at all. That's probably why I focused my energies into the comic instead, I didn't want to have an creatively blank year. I'm not sure what the reason for this was. Getting older? Running out of ideas? Nothing to say? Real-life eating away at me? I'm not able to pin-point anything in particular. Likely it has been all of these things. So it goes.

And so now, nine months down the line I find that I've completed chapter 6 of Beyond the Sacred Mountain without much fuss. Probably could've been done much quicker but it could also have been much slower too. It's nice not to have the New Year panic hanging over me. I'll try and crack on into chapter 7 and as far as recording music goes I haven't got plans for anything this year either. But who knows? There's still a few months left.
